At the university-based laboratory, tests are conducted on the most modern equipment. In order to ensure quality and durability, each batch of pavers and blocks undergoes laboratory testing
Tests include: Dimensions, Water Absorption, Freeze Thaw Resistance (de-icin salts), Mechanical Strength, Slip Resistanceand Abrasion Resistance. A qualified and experienced team of technicians at Orange Pavers Laboratories can perform these tests to help towards the approval of Concrete Paving Blocks or Concrete Pavers for the exacting standards needed.
Chemical Analysis of Concrete:
- Cement content and cement: aggregate ratio
- Water : cement ratio
- Chloride ion content
- Sulphate content / evidence of “sulphate” attack
- Carbonation depth
- Alkali content
- High Alumina Cement (HAC): basic confirmation or comprehensive investigation
- Identification of ASR and other deleterious chemical reactions
- Thin section petrography for “forensic” investigation
- XRD and SEM/EDX instrumental methods
Chemical Analysis of Aggregate:
- Petrographic examination including ASR reactivity / assessment
- Sulphate and chloride content
- Organic matter content
- Acid soluble material content
- Soundness / durability
